Because legitimate banks never ask for full PAN, CVV, or PIN over the phone, the safest move is to hang up, independently verify the number on your card or bank statement, and call the official customer‑service line. Keep a log of the call, block the number, and report it to your bank’s fraud department or the national consumer protection agency. Staying skeptical and using a trusted channel can stop these scams before any damage occurs.
Someone claimed to call from Standardbank about fraudulent transactions on my credit card and asked for my card details. I declined and contacted Standardbank who confirmed it was a scam call
Claimed to be from Standard Bank Fraud department. Ended the call when I asked questions
Said they were from ABSA's Fraud division. They asked to verify my card details. I didn't share anything. Called ABSA and learned it's a scam.
