I had no clue who called, so I let it go to voicemail since the number was unfamiliar. No message was left.
Loft Check Calls: Scam or Legit?

Expert Opinion
What could explain these persistent calls from an unknown Leeds number? Reports describe silent pick-ups, call centre buzz, and accents suggesting non-UK origins, often pitching energy surveys or loft checks tied to government pretexts. This pattern screams scam tactics, where callers probe for personal details like home ownership to push fraudulent services. No legitimate outfit operates this way—silence and quick hang-ups on challenge are dead giveaways. Block the number immediately via your provider or phone settings. Register with the Telephone Preference Service to cut unsolicited calls. If details were shared, monitor accounts for odd activity and report to Action Fraud. Stay vigilant; these nuisances thrive on unanswered queries.

Two calls hit my landline on Thursday 8 May 2025, first at 11:30 and again at 14:40. The initial ring played call‑centre background noise, the second was dead silence. Looks like unwanted sales outreach; I've reported similar calls from the Leeds area before, albeit with different numbers.
