Welsh Water robocall scam – how to stop it!
Summary — +441159338000
Expert Opinion
Never answer unknown automated calls that ask you to press a number. Calls from +44 115 933 8000 show a pattern of repeated robocalls claiming to be Welsh Water, electricity providers, or delivery services. They often play a pre‑recorded message and request you press 1 or 2 to confirm receipt, which can trigger premium‑rate charges. Block the number on your handset and report it to your carrier or the national spam‑stop service. If you truly need to verify a utility outage, hang up and call the official provider using a known phone number. Stay cautious and keep a log of call times for evidence.

Received two calls this afternoon from this number. When answered, an automated message played saying, "This is a free message..." etc. Seems like a scam or nuisance.
A bot call rang at 22:56 and again at 23:36 – clearly a scam that went straight to an answering machine. The timing was off, definatly not professional. Reminds me of the movie *Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back* where they hunt down scammers…
Message automatisé annonçant : "appel gratuit, appuyez sur 1 pour accepter, 2 pour supprimer" – trois appels reçus en trente minutes.

An unknown number called, but I didn’t pick up.

I received a call from 01159338000 on 4 July 2025 at 11:57 am with a recorded prompt to press various options, then hung up. The same number called again at 12:07 pm and 12:17 pm, both times leaving no message – feels a bit harassing, doesn’t it?
They rang us ten separate times.
My phone flagged it as a nuisance call and blocked the unknown number.
Two calls came in at 6:46 pm and 8:15 pm; I ignored them because anyone who knows me would ring my mobile, not my landline. If it weren’t a scam, why call in the evening rather than business hours?

I got an automated Welsh Water message informing me of a service disruption.
At 2am I was trying to nod off when a recorded message played, so I told the caller to buzz off and hung up.
A recorded greeting simply asks you to press 1 to continue, with no clue who’s behind it or if it redirects to a premium line, and they keep calling at odd hours.
Received an automated call from an alarm service.
The phone rang at 8 am; I never answer unknown numbers but have an answering machine for genuine calls. Nothing was left, but I read other comments for insight.
Someone pretended to be from Scottish and Southern, saying my power was off even though it wasn’t.
An automated alert said, "this is a free message, press 1 to listen or 2… you won’t be charged for this call."
A recorded call pretending to be Welsh Water offered two key‑press options, which I ignored.
A message supposedly from Welsh Water warned about discoloured water; checking their website showed no issues locally, so it’s a scam. If you receive such a voice‑text, don’t press 1 to confirm receipt.
Two calls were made in an apparent scam attempt.
Just before midnight at 11:45 pm, my landline rang with a voicemail saying, "if you still don’t have power, call…" clearly a scam.
Not sure what they wanted, but it wasn't important. Other junk call.
Le texte audio a été envoyé au téléphone fixe. J’ai fourni le numéro du fixe au lieu du mobile lors de la prise de rendez‑vous.
