The person on the line asked for me specifically. When I inquired who was calling, they mentioned offering life insurance. I declined interest, but they insisted I'd requested a quote. Ended the call myself!
Unsolicited insurance pitch: real or fake?

Expert Opinion
Patterns in these reports reveal unsolicited calls targeting personal details under the guise of insurance reviews. Callers often name insurance firms to seem legitimate but dodge questions about data sources, hinting at phishing tactics. One instance involved a query on life assurance, with claims of prior quote requests that weren't true—classic cold calling pressure. Advice: never share info over unknown lines; verify via official channels. Block the number and report to Action Fraud if suspicious. Screening calls reduces hassle from such nuisances.

Seemed dodgy - didn't know the number or anyone in Bristol, so ignored it. Trust this site, so won't answer next time and blocked it. Cheers.
Caller knew my name and inquired about life insurance. I said ‘yes thanks’ and hung up.
They introduced themselves as part of the review team, topic was insurance, and listed various firms they supposedly worked with. Clearly fishing for details. They couldn't explain how they got our number or which provider I used, so the call wrapped up. Seems like a data collection ploy in my view.
