The caller seemed genuine. I hold Thames Water insurance, and he knew all my info! Suspicion arose when he requested bank details confirmation (Thames Water avoids storing them for GDPR reasons), so I said I'd ring back. He sounded very polished, so stay alert!!
Drainage Scam Alert: Don't Share Bank Details!

Expert Opinion
Callers pretending to be from legitimate services like Thames Water have left many feeling uneasy with their detailed knowledge of personal info. These persistent attempts often involve fake offers for drainage or plumbing insurance, pushing for bank details under false pretences. Scammers commonly use polished scripts to build trust, but hang up abruptly when challenged, revealing the ruse. Silence or non-responses on the line can tie up your phone, blocking important calls and posing a nuisance risk. Always verify independently by contacting your actual provider directly—never share financial details over unsolicited calls. Blocking the number and registering with TPS helps, but stay vigilant as these tactics evolve to exploit trust in utilities.

Silence when answered, better steer clear.
Clear scam attempt, ignores TPS rules
Woman with Asian accent pushed cheaper direct debits for drainage/plumbing insurance. Definitely a con, so I blocked it
Great job by call minder blocking this one. Now it's fully blocked.
Female voice claimed my drainage insurance was expiring soon. Total nonsense—I'd never buy such a policy anyway.
A man named 'Steve' rang to say my drainage fees would increase, but he had no ties to the actual provider. Sure...
Steve, what prompted that phone call? Perhaps it's time for some professional counselling?
Dropped the call the second I answered.
Previously dialled my landline from this number. Upon picking up, just 'hello' with silence, then kept the connection alive for 10 minutes. I needed that line free for an important medical update!
Incredibly frustrating and concerning. They rang my landline, remained silent. I hung up, then tried to dial out a few minutes after, but got no tone as the line was still connected!! Concerning, since pressing keys for a new call might lead to a fraud scheme! Both bothersome and risky!
Pushing some drainage con. Creepy part: they knew my details!
A bloke sounding Indian, introducing himself as 'Ron', rang claiming to represent “Drainage protection”.
Chat was about plumbing cover, but that was off-base. When I questioned the scam vibe, she brushed it off.
Pushing a drainage con; I told the prat to shove it up his mum's arse
Woman's voice, perhaps of Asian origin, inquiring about drain or pipe repair expenses. She talked non-stop, making it hard to break in. Finally, I cut her off and questioned her purpose. She then politely ended the call! No business name or greeting was given at any stage. Absolutely a fraudulent attempt, even though we didn't reach the part about payments. Best to disconnect immediately. Anything else poses a serious threat.
Woman rang claiming my drainage insurance was lapsing - but she thanked me and hung up when I mentioned we already have complete coverage!!
Ignored the call due to nuisance flag - blocked it now.
Answered to silence. Blocked straight away, then searched online. Likely scam or fraud.
Answered to silence, then they disconnected and I blocked the number
