Never share personal or banking details over the phone, especially when you didn’t enter a competition. Hang up, mark the number as spam on your handset and consider using a call‑blocking service. Report persistent harassment to the Information Commissioner’s Office and Action Fraud. Keep a written record of each call – date, time and exact wording – to aid any future complaint.
A company reached out, wanting to take my deposit for a holiday I supposedly won! The first call came from a call centre located in Milton Keynes.
Following a call from another number claiming I'd won a holiday, they transfered me to this number to pay a 'deposit' for a meeting, which seem's like a timeshare scam to me

Received a call at work, told them I couldn't talk as my boss was there they said I'd won a holiday but needed to pay £90 not paying a penny if I was meant to win it's supposed to be free
Scam.... Said I’d entered a competition to win a holiday. No, I hadn’t.... They went on to ask about income, home ownership, etc.... Blocked the number.
CLC. When I inquired why I had to pay if I supposedly won something, they became agitated. I was told I could travel to their so-called presentation, which was only an hour away. When I questioned the need for a deposit that was refundable only if I attended a 90-minute Time Share presentation, they got quite angry with me, saying I was wasting their time. They told me I shouldn't have entered their draw if I didn't want to win. I explained that I hadn't entered their draw at all, just obtained tickets to the Ideal Home Exhibition through British Gas. I then asked them to erase any details they had about me from their system. When they asked why, I informed them that the new GDPR comes into effect tomorrow, 25th May. I was sworn at before the line went dead.
