The caller falsely claimed to be from Opus Energy and was extremely persistent, refusing to back down even when told to; unfortunately, our workplace phone system doesn't allow us to block numbers, so I've resorted to picking up and immediately putting the receiver back down.
They ring us every week, claiming to be EON and asking to confirm our meter number, but when i challenged them, they wouldnt send a meter reader to verify the info, and they even asked us to look up invoices and give them figures, which seems suspicious, so dont give them any information!
A person named Jack contacted me, claiming to represent EDF. After I ended the call, a quick check revealed this number 0017273991778. I did some research and upon his return call, I asked for proof of his EDF affiliation - unsurprisingly, he couldn't provide any. I confronted him about impersonating British Gas and E-on among others. He quickly backed down and hung up. His initial excuse involved a meter issue. Stay vigilant and challenge him as I did.
After answering the call, there was silence, so I ended the call. It appears to be a time-wasting tactic with no legitimate purpose, likely a cold call.
Claimed to be selling green energy from Western Power, completly a scam
Claimed to be from British Gas, saying there was a meter issue. They had my meter details but couldn’t provide any account info. I ended the call and contacted British Gas, who confirmed it was a scam.
Told me what I could and couldn’t do! Claimed to be from E.On saying our supply would be cut off. Rude, so I ended the call
The caller introduced himself as Jack from my energy supplier, but when I asked for the company name, he was initially silent before claiming to be from E-on, which I knew was incorrect.
A young lady named Jacqueline, claiming to be from British Gas, contacted me with very poor English skills, but when I questioned her further, she was unable to provide basic information about my account, leading me to end the call and contact British Gas directly, confirming that the call was indeed a scam.
Another call from someone claiming to be British Gas, stating our electricity would be cut off soon. The caller, who had an Indian accent, identified himself as David Berker. Although less aggressive than previous calls, he insisted our supply was at risk. We informed him BG isn't our supplier and ended the call.
