Absolutely a scam about appointments
Home Security Scam Alert!

Expert Opinion
In the quiet of an Oxfordshire evening, reports flood in about unsolicited calls pushing home safety gear or bogus appointments. These seem like classic scams targeting older folks with tales of crime watches or fire awareness campaigns—pushy pitches that vanish once rebuffed. Silent hangs or background chatter add to the unease. Block the number straight away and never share details; it's a red flag for potential fraud. Report to Action Fraud for the wider good, and consider registering with the Telephone Preference Service to cut down on such nuisances. Stay vigilant—your gut feeling is often spot on against these tricksters.

Polite-sounding person addressed me by name (!) and mentioned a safety device for over-fifties in the area. I firmly declined and they vanished. SCAM!! Avoid picking up.
Another missed call this week from this number claiming to be local. Checked on Who Called Me and blocked it now.
Posed as a crime and fire awareness drive for homeowners aged over 60, quite insistent, though I firmly declined and she ended the call.
Received two calls from this number; each time, background chatter was audible before they disconnected. Definitely a scam.
The caller claimed to represent a security company named T Mac, and I scheduled an appointment for the following day. After dialling 1471, I got the calling number, searched it on a who-called site, and discovered it was a scam. So I rang back to cancel the booking. Hopefully this info is useful
Female caller wanted to schedule a meeting about installing security devices. Upon my rejection, she ended the conversation abruptly.
Received a quiet cold call. My response triggered an automated farewell before disconnecting. Feels suspicious.
Picked up, but the person just uttered goodbye and ended the call
Con about home security, pretending to be from neighbourhood crime watch.
