Following an order from AO.com, I received two suspicious calls from 02038791974 and an unknown Manchester number within minutes of each other, despite AO.com confirming no issues with my order and no record of these calls
Telemarketing from AO.com: what you need to know
Summary — +442038791974
Expert Opinion
Ever wondered why a simple appliance purchase triggers a barrage of follow‑up calls? Most reports point to AO.com using an after‑sales telemarketing team to pitch extended warranties or insurance shortly after delivery confirmation. These calls often feel persistent and can border on harassment, especially when no clear identification is given. To protect yourself, always verify the caller’s name and reference number on the official AO.com website, request an opt‑out if you’re not interested, and consider using call blocking features. Keep records of call times and content, and report repeated nuisance calls to your phone provider or the Information Commissioner's Office.

This number called me twice, and I picked up during the second call. They were from AOL, attempting to sell me extended insurance. When I raised another concern regarding my purchase, the representative said, 'I'll just consult my colleague.' I initially thought the call was dropped, but from the comments, it seems that they hung up on me.

Apparently, AO post delivery insurance makes alot of calls, fifteen in five days, without leaving a message, and I only noticed today when I was waiting for another call and realised too late it was the wrong number, now its blocked.

I purchased a washing machine from AO and received a call from this number the following day. The representative was overly aggressive in trying to sell me insurance. Despite my hesitation and request to discuss it with my husband, she persisted in asking for my sort code and account number, which made me suspicious. I ended the call. While the number appears legitimate, the sales tactics are quite forceful, so beware. Due to this experience, I decided to cancel my order.
When purchasing from AO, this number is used for follow-up calls that eventually introduce extended warranty options, which I consider a legitimate but time-wasting sales tactic
