Ekspertvurdering

The call appeared to be from Sky Broadband.
The call, billed £11 on my Virgin bill, turned out to be from PayPal; I was discussing a six‑month charge from a walking app that had been refunded, confirming the source.
No answer was recorded on July 19 2019, leaving me uneasy. The person even invoked Jesus Christ as their saviour.
After being told it was PayPal and that I owed money – which I knew wasn’t true – they also asked about my electricity and gas. This raised suspicion because the day before they’d claimed to be from a Shell company, and my phone flagged it as spam. It’s unnerving how they seemed to know my providers. When the supposed PayPal agent inquired about utilities, I told him I was suspicious and hung up. He spoke with a slight Irish accent.

Looks like a PayPal scam.
Avoid getting involved – it’s a PayPal scam!
This appears to be a PayPal scam.
Detected a PayPal scam and hung up once I questioned their identity.
The call wasn’t from PayPal at all but a telemarketing firm acting on their behalf. I tried calling back repeatedly, yet every extension was busy and the mailbox stayed full.
I just spoke to PayPal Customer Service after navigating the usual prompts; the number matches the one listed in the app and is genuine.
Apparently it’s the number claimed to be PayPal’s customer service.
Report any scam attempts – taking responsibility and forwarding emails or screenshots to the cyber‑crime police can help stop these nasty calls.
They said it was only PayPal and not a £9 charge, but I think that’s nonsense – what’s wrong with them?
Besides my earlier note, the call from my mobile only cost me a few minutes of airtime.
Beware – this is a scam.
Caller ID was unknown.

Unexpected £2.20 charge
The call turned out to be PayPal Customer Support; I had forgotten both the call and the number, but recalled it later. They’re trustworthy—they never initiate calls, you must contact them.
I missed a call that came in yesterday.
Apparently this was someone claiming to be PayPal support.
