A caller with a strong Eastern accent, difficult to understand, claimed to represent BT merging with Vodafone and Sky, and asked for my availability to receive a ‘device’ I supposedly needed, mentioning a forthcoming letter. When I corrected them that BT is merging with EE, the call was abruptly cut. Such a pitch would likely frighten older adults.
Repeated calls to our business line claim we overpaid on telecoms and request bank details for a refund. The callers sound like an overseas call centre and even ring on weekends, disguising themselves as sales. After I asked them to stop and hung up, they called several times in succession and hung up when I answered.
Someone claimed to represent BT, but as usual it turned out to be a bothersome attempt to swindle me.
