Expert Opinion

Beware of unsolicited calls pushing window replacements or energy surveys; they're often scams designed to extract deposits or personal details. Hang up straight away if someone claims to represent a company like EcoSave and probes about your home or offers 'government funding' for glazing—legitimate firms don't cold-call like this. Report to Action Fraud or the ICO to help curb these nuisances, and consider registering with TPS if not already. Block the number on your phone to avoid repeats, and never share financial info over the line. Elderly relatives are prime targets, so chat with them about spotting these tricks early.

442046249610 Scam (scam)

On 17 March my elderly parents received a call from this line. My dad, unfortunately, agreed to a so‑called “survey”, which turned into a high‑pressure sales tactic. They were coaxed into signing up for replacement glazing, handed over a £1500 deposit and had a measurer visit the next day. The “contract” listed a number of windows and a lengthy clause list on the back. PLEASE AVOID THESE SCAMMERS!

The person already knew my name and inquired about the age of my house windows. I replied they didn’t require replacement. She insisted she wasn’t selling anything, just wanted to schedule a visit to inspect the windows. I told her I wasn’t interested in a potential scam, and she hung up before I could finish.

I ignored it – it was irritating.

I ignored the call since it’s one of many unknown numbers we’ve been receiving lately; no message was left, so it appears to be a scam.

The call went unanswered and the only thing heard was a female voice apparently saying hello – clearly a scam.

442046249610 Harassment Call Melanie

I received a call from Melanie at Eco Save; she asked how I was, I mentioned I was busy making lunch, she replied she’d call back later, and I told her not to bother.

442046249610 Scam Eco Save

I couldn't catch the woman's name due to poor reception, but she said she represented Eco Safe/Save regarding new government funding. She claimed to know the address and wanted to confirm the property owner. I told her a reputable firm wouldn't contact us as we're on the TPS, yet she insisted she’d remove our name – I’ll block and lodge a complaint with the ICO.

442046249610 Scam Gemma

I received a call from Gemma at EcoSave about an energy‑saving assessment and new low‑energy glass windows. I asked whether they used a different inert gas between panes or a silver coating to reflect light, and inquired about the U‑value. She insisted an "engineer" would explain everything during a visit. I replied that I am an engineer (though the term isn’t protected) and ultimately declined, suspecting it was a scam.
