Expert Opinion
Approach any unsolicited calls with caution, especially those promising bill reductions or free upgrades from telecom providers. These reports reveal a pattern of scammers impersonating companies like EE, Three, Vodafone, and Sky to extract personal details or verification codes, often leading to account takeovers or harassment. One incident escalated to explicit abuse when challenged. Never share your name, date of birth, or two-factor authentication codes over the phone—legitimate firms won't request them this way. Block the number immediately, report it to Action Fraud or your phone provider, and consider registering with the Telephone Preference Service to cut down on nuisance calls. If you've disclosed info, monitor your accounts closely and change passwords promptly.
