After placing an advert on Auto Trader, an Indian caller took my mobile number and began asking questions already covered in the ad. Realising it was a scam, I played along until I lost interest, then told him to go away.
Fake Provider Scam Alert!
Summary — +442086387939
Expert Opinion
Beware of unsolicited calls from this London-based number, as they often mask fraudulent intent. Reports consistently highlight scammers impersonating providers like O2, Sky, or Three, peddling fake discounts or upgrades to extract personal details. Accents vary, but the script remains predictable: probing questions, aggressive pushback when challenged, and abrupt hang-ups. One call even turned abusive. Block immediately and report to Ofcom or Action Fraud to curb their reach. Never share info or confirm details—hang up and verify directly with your provider. If persistent, consider a call blocker app for peace of mind. These nuisances thrive on engagement, so brevity is key.

Typically the call began with a very courteous Indian lady asking how I was. If she truly wanted to know, I could have answered, but it would have taken five minutes and she probably didn’t want to hear that. She had also called my husband two minutes earlier – as if we were all that clueless.
Received a call today supposedly from 3… usual spiel… they promised to cut my bill to £5 a month with unlimited usage. When I mentioned my son handles the phone bill, they gave me a callback number — 3330040268. After checking three of their numbers, that one isn’t listed. Odd, isn’t it?
Previous calls have pretended to be from Sky. I never confirm their details or give them anything. Identical calls have also come from mobile numbers. All numbers are blocked straight away. I live in the East Midlands.
Was having dinner, so I let the call go unanswered. No worries!

Looks like a scam to me. Bloody annoying!

The person claimed to be from SKY mobile network.
An English male offered the usual nonsense; I ignored it.
Got a scam call that clearly breaches the TPS rules. Proper hassle!
Got a call from someone claiming to be Zak from O2; when I asked him to confirm his identity, he swore at me. What a wanker!
Another pointless call wasted my time. Why aren’t these numbers blocked? I have to assume they succeed with people who fall for scams.
Can't figure out why this number remains unblocked – proper bother!
