Active Quotes calls: how to stop the relentless insurance follow‑up
Summary — +442920090720
Expert Opinion
Oddly enough, the number +442920090720 keeps surfacing in insurance‑related complaints, most of which describe persistent, unsolicited follow‑ups after an online quote. Callers identify themselves as Active Quotes, a broker that appears to source leads from comparison sites like GoCompare and MoneySupermarket. While the outreach can be framed as a legitimate service, the frequency and lack of clear opt‑out often cross into harassment. Block the number on your handset, register with the Telephone Preference Service, and request removal of your details from the broker’s database. If calls continue, consider filing a complaint with the ICO or your phone provider for unwanted telemarketing.

Although I haven't answered or returned the call, based on some activity and timing, I suspect this is ActiveQuote. They obtained my number through a speculative search for critical illness insurance on Moneysupermarket[###], and have been calling me twice daily since that online quote for the past three days. I'm a regular MoneySupermarket user but feel let down that they share information with a company like ActiveQuote, which believes that bombarding me with unsolicited calls after I clicked 'I've read and agree to the terms and conditions' is acceptable, a legally questionable method of obtaining 'consent' according to GDPR.
This number is used by a legitimate income insurance company.
Uswitch insurance is the culprit behind this spam call.

Following an online quote, an insurance broker contacted me regarding payment protection insurance, which appeared to be a legitimate call.
On 13.03.19, I found out via my answerphone that someone using this number tried to contact me (odd, as I have an ex-directory number). When I called back, a man with an American accent said the number was for people who had shown interest in insurance. He introduced himself as part of "Active Quotes". When I told him I hadn't made such enquiries, he asked for my name and number to stop future calls. The conversation ended there.
GOcompare contacted me to follow up on a quote and tried to upsell their services.
The call originated from Cardiff.
