Student Loans Company call – legit or scam?

After receiving a call from this line I redialled the genuine student loan office and realised it was a scam – never share personal data with anyone using this number.

Watch out – a Scottish‑accented scammer is on the line, proper slick but dangerous, mate.

Received a call from this number asking to talk to my daughter about a student loan; the caller sounded vague and mangled her surname, so I hung up, cheers, mate.

Several missed calls were logged from this number; when I answered today, the caller claimed to be from SLC and asked for my full name and secret answer for my SFE online account. The connection kept dropping, so I warned them I wasn’t comfortable sharing that information and would call back using the official SLC number. The caller then hung up abruptly.

After contacting student finance, I can confirm this was a scam – disregard any other fabricated claims.

Multiple calls have come through from this line. I missed the first rings, but after several days of persistent ringing I finally answered. The caller demanded answers to security questions and, after I only partially gave my date of birth, they hung up. This behaviour confirms it’s a scam.

I was approached by someone asking for my son; when I said I couldn’t help, they insisted on security questions. I told them the number seemed bogus, and they suggested my son check his online account – which shows he owes nothing. The number they used is not genuine.

This is clearly a scam, dont give them any of your informations, if you need to contact the student finance company, do it yourself, dont trust them

This isn’t an official SLC line. Just a heads‑up: only share your details with genuine SLC staff using the verified numbers listed on gov.uk, okay? Cheers.

A suspicious call was received from this number, with the caller possessing a strange English accent and knowledge of my name, attempting to extract details and approvals through deception.

Apparently, these individuals have been ringing me non stop, enquiring about my son's personal life, which is quite unsettling. Some Scottish fella demanded all my informations in exchange, so i asked him for his details, like home adress, date of birth, etc, he got annoyed and i told him to put everything in writting, we still havent recieved that letter after a year, clearly a scam

This number has called me couple of times, I missed the calls, but I answered it just now, they were asking for my daughter who have ASD about student loan, I told them my daughter is out, I'll ring them back later, but the guy hesitated, thats why I looked up this number and realised it's a scam.
