I recieved a letter and leaflet from M&S about a refund, so I called the number, they asked alot of security questions which made me wonder if it was a scam, but I checked with M&S bank and they confirmed it was legit.
This appears to be a legitimate service, requiring only basic security information such as name, address, and date of birth, with the option to receive payment by cheque, eliminating the need to provide bank details.
The next day, I contacted M&Ss genuin number and it turns out this number is not a scam, I had overpaid somthing in January 2002 and its being trasfered to my bank account, I had moved house 4 times since then, so it was a nice suprise.
The letter seemed verry convincing and genuine, however I would never provide bank details over the phone, it appears to be a credit card scam, I will inform m and s finance about this possiable scam.
