HSBC scam call with suspicious request
HSBC scam alert: What to do when they call!
Summary — +443456008891
Expert Opinion
A quick scan of the comments reveals a pattern of callers posing as HSBC fraud representatives. Most users describe the calls as spoofed numbers that request account details, sort codes, or security codes. The consensus is that the callers are scammers, not a legitimate bank department. To stay safe, hang up immediately, never share personal details, and contact HSBC using the official number printed on your card. If you’re unsure, verify the call through the bank’s online portal or by calling the known customer service line. Treat any unsolicited request for verification as suspicious and report it to your bank.

Deceptive call reported
Apparently, this number is involved in a scam, so it's essential to exercise caution and not respond to any calls from it. Upon callback, an individual claiming to be Suneal from the fraud team answered, but he seems to be the one perpetrating the fraud. His acting skills are convincing, but it's crucial to remember that legitimate institutions like HSBC never request sensitive information such as Internet IB reference numbers or secure key passwords. Vigilance is key, and if doubts arise, it's best to contact HSBC directly using the official number on the back of your card.

Upon recieving these messages, it became aparent that they had contacted 2 seperate phones, including an old number now assigned to my husbad, and left mesages regarding fraud on my HSBC account from HSCB, whilst we were on holiday in the Alps (May 2018), and it was only when we returned to the UK that we could acess them, and fortunatly my bank accounts seem to be exaclty as normal, leaving me very confused as to wether this is genuin or not
Upon closer inspection, it appeard to be the same female voice asociated with HSBC when I returned the call
