The caller introduced herself as Maria from Amazon, claimed I’d purchased an iPhone 14 for £745 – which I hadn’t – and demanded my Amazon account details. Her accent suggested Indian origin. It appears to be a scam, as highlighted on Nick Stapleton’s BBC Fraud Interceptors programme.
