Expert Opinion
Caution is essential with unsolicited calls from unknown numbers, especially those flagged as suspicious. Reports indicate frequent attempts to impersonate HMRC or Vodafone, often featuring robotic voices, heavy accents, or demands for personal details like card numbers or verification codes. These tactics scream scam, aiming to phish for data or push fraudulent changes. Hang up immediately if anything feels off—never share info over the phone. Block the number and report to Action Fraud to help curb these nuisances. Enable spam filters on your device for added protection, and remember, genuine organisations won't pressure you like this. Stay sharp to safeguard your privacy.

Unknown caller rang me up, bloke with a thick Asian accent, sounded like a busy call centre from the noise. Claimed it was regarding my phone plan and he could cut costs by 35%. When I enquired about his company, he mentioned 'your network, Vodafone'. I said I'm not a Vodafone user and he ended the call abruptly. Feels like a con job.
Kept playing a looped "Thank you for calling" recording. Blocked now, sorted.

HMRC fraud—end the call and block immediately!
Rang persistently on the bell for ages, noticed my phone's mic was activated in the quick settings. Blocked calls began 39 minutes later! Got a spam fraud warning on my device, so I didn't pick up. Continued buzzing and ringing. Unsure if the mic activation relates.
Received several calls from this number featuring a strong Asian accent. They pretended to be from Vodafone and knew my personal info, like my bill amount, email, home address, and part of my card number. They texted a verification code and emailed to confirm their identity. I grew wary when they requested full card details to ‘update the direct debit and offer a discount’. They kept transferring me to different ‘supervisors’. I disconnected multiple times, and they've tried from three other numbers since.
A bloody Indian con artist

Picked up to an automated farewell. Definitely a fraud attempt, remain cautious everyone!
