Government phone numbers: protect your data now!
Summary — +448000232635
Expert Opinion
Like a locked diary, your personal details shouldn’t be handed out to strangers on the phone. When a call arrives from +448000232635 claiming to be from the Department for Work and Pensions, treat it as a verification step first. Ask for a call‑back number on an official letter or log into your online DWP account before sharing any personal data. Be wary of urgent language or promises of “good news” – these are common pressure tactics. Record the call, note the time and content, and report suspicious numbers to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Keeping a sceptical stance protects you from identity theft and unauthorised data use.

Deceptive tactics used
I'm shocked by the amount of comments saying this number is spam or harrassment, its actually from the DWP, get your facts right
Unknown caller issue
Last week, I got three calls from this number, 08000232635, but unfortunatly they all got cut off before I could answer, one of them only rang once, I dont think they can prove they actualy rang, can they?
Generally speaking, this number is associated with ESA claims and appears to be legitimate, dont ignore it or you might loose benefits
Constantly ringing despite my lack of benefits, I have chosen to ignore their calls. After the initial missed call, I researched the number and decided it was best to refrain from answering. Not claiming anything means their persistent calls won’t impact me. However, I am tempted to pick up just to leave the phone off the hook, wasting their time and resources.
This is actualy the department for works, aparently
Today at 11:40, I received a call from this number. A lady named Liz Ramsey claimed to be from the DWP. She stated her office was in Pembroke Dock and assured me there was nothing to be concerned about, laughing, and said my EsA was being adjusted. She wanted to verify any changes in my circumstances and asked several questions. I declined, stating that I didn't know who she was. I mentioned that my number had been removed from the DWP due to numerous similar calls. She said a form would be sent to me. I wished to complain about the call and asked for her complaint details. She indicated she would look them up, as if she was unaware. I waited in silence for about five minutes before hanging up. I suspect this call is a scam. I will be waiting for the mentioned form in the mail. Avoid answering questions from anyone unless you are certain of their identity, as if that needs to be said.
Woman asked about funeral parlour connection!
This number is associated with the government department responsible for work and pensions, previously known as the DSS.
I answered and it was a government worker assisting with my benefits. While some might not want to hear from the DWP, if you're expecting a call, it's probably safe to answer.
Apparently, this is a genuine contact number from the Department for Work & Pensions, not a bogus one
I've been recieving alot of harassment calls from this number, its very stressfull
A woman with a thick accent called me this morning, claiming to be from the DWP, and attempted to rush me into discussing my claim over the phone, which seemed highly suspicious and like an attempt to obtain personal details under duress
Really annoying, it was an automated message and I ended the call immediately.
When I tried to return the call, I got a recorded message, which suggests that this is a nuisance call that has been persistently ringing my phone for days
