The number 08003285644 has been reported
Upon discovering this number on my landline, I rang back to find it was supposedly the universal credits helpline, but after reading other users' experiences here, I decided to block the number; perhaps someone should notify the DWP about potential hacking by scammers, which, although embarrassing for the government, might prompt action
They requested £49.99 for an Amazon prime subscription, claiming my account was overdrawn. If I paid today, no further actions would be taken. I don't even hold an amazing account... so I told them to f##k right off!! Are they scammers?
They asked me to send my ID and NIN to some random email, and they contacted me multiple times, which is suspicious
Clearly a fraudulent attempt, as I'm not in receipt of Universal Credit and thus there's no legitimate reason for them to be contacting me. It's worth noting that scammers can manipulate caller ID to appear as if they're calling from an official source.
Beware of this number, as it claimed to be from HMRC, took my details, and subsequently resulted in my universal credit being stopped, leaving me without any money. It's essential to verify such calls with your named advisor.
