Checked 1571 for messages, assuming perhaps a relative, but heard only background noise from what seemed a call centre. Dialled 1471 for the number, searched on ‘who called me’, and sure enough, my hunch was right! We're older folks, but learning to spot these vile fraudsters. The wake-up alone is frustrating (especially with my poor sleep leaving me grumpy), but the hassle of investigating who it was just rubs salt in the wound! Tip: If it's supposedly ‘your bank’, claim it's not a good time to chat, say you'll call back, and then don't bother—

Got a call this morning (29/10/24) at 0808, the guy said he was Ken (probably fake) and asked for my date of birth and postcode, claiming to be from M & S bank. Worst part, he woke us up😩hope this helps stop these scammers
I ignored the call from this number and checked the reviews, then M&S bank text me to call this number, i did some research and spoke to them, it was a genuine call from M&S bank, they are calling about finance issues if you have a account, M&S banking is part of HSBC by the way...

Received a voicemail with just breathing sounds. The call came through at 8.20am.
This is indeed legitimate. I have confirmed with M&S directly that they were attempting to reach me concerning my account.
Received a text prompting me to ring HSBC at this number. It’s clearly a scam, especially since they had previously indicated it was related to M&S.
