O2‑like scam calls – what to watch out for!
Summary — +448008400202
Expert Opinion
The consensus is that +44 800 840 0202 is most often used by callers pretending to be O2. While a few users report genuine callbacks, the bulk of the feedback flags it as a scam – they’re after account codes, personal details or payments for bogus offers. If you get a call from this number, don’t share any security codes, passwords or payment info. Hang up, then call O2 on their official 0344 809 0202 line to verify. Use call‑blocking apps and report persistent abuse to OFCOM. Staying sceptical and confirming via official channels is the safest route.

I strongly beleive that 08008400202 is a scam, as I was unable to get through to O2's customer service, and their official number is 03448090202, and the whole experience was suspicious, with promises of a free chrome book, which seemed too good to be true, so I erred on the side of caution and contacted my bank to report the incident and request a new card

A word of caution: certain O2 customer service representatives may be collaborating with scammers, as evidenced by my experience where I contacted O2 to remove age restrictions, only to be called back on this number and asked for a special code, raising suspicions due to prior warnings about such requests

O2 customer service reachout
From O2
In retrospect, this call seems legitimate, likely from O2, as the representative attempted to reassure me and provided information about my account, requesting I use the touchpad to enter details for security, and a subsequent charge of £8.70 was labeled as O2 UK, although vigilance is still necessary as scammers may exploit legitimate numbers
After conducting further research, I beleive my experience with this number was legitamate, and I apologize for any confusion caused by my previous review, although I still think it's essential to be cautious of potential scams.
Beware of scammers claiming to be from O2.

SCAM alert, not affiliated with O2
When I answered the call, I heard background noise and conversations, possibly from a call center, but nobody spoke.
Poor line quality makes it unlikely that a productive conversation can be had with O2 regarding my complaint.
