I called today to inquire about a relative's number, but received no information.
A note simply mentioned PayPal credit.
PayPal called about a missed payment, left a voicemail, and when I checked I was indeed a day overdue. They were likely just reminding me, but I’d still verify via the app before sharing information.
I receive a PayPal reminder when a payment is due a day before my payday; changing the due date has been impossible unless I pay a month in advance.
Warning: this is not PayPal. A man with an Indian accent called, knew my name, and asked to confirm my email. I told him off and hung up, then contacted PayPal who confirmed the call was fraudulent and advised reporting the number.
Assuming it was a delivery, I answered an automated prompt that demanded my birthdate, then I promptly hung up.
A foreign scammer masquerading as PayPal tried to swindle money; after playing along I told him to beat it!
Regarding PayPal Credit.
The fraudsters claimed to represent PayPal and asked for my email; I refused, requested proof, and they sent a message via the app. Still doubtful, I hung up, called PayPal who confirmed they never called, so I changed my password immediately. However, I couldn’t log in through the app and had to use Chrome to reset—it exposed a loophole. PayPal must address this security gap.
