Santander scam calls – how to protect yourself!

A message from this number was identified as a scam.

After a recent transaction I received a text asking me to answer Y or N and then call a number with a PIN. When the text reply failed, I called the number but got a shady response. I promised to call back but never did. Looking up the number later revealed a scam alert.

I sadly fell victim to this, thinking it was genuine. Now I'm out of pocket by £200.

It has been confirmed by Santander that the number 0-8082800767 is a scam, and it is advisable to ignore any calls from this number to avoid potential fraud.

This number is flagged as a scam, with multiple warnings indicating its malicious intent.

Very clever are these text messages pretending to be from your bank’s fraud department, but what’s more alarming is they mention the last four digits of my bank card. My bank would have immediately stopped my card if they suspected fraud.

It's clear that this is a fraudulent call, as they pretend to be from Sa.ntander, which is extreemly annoying

Recognised as scam do not answer

I received a text message purporting to be from SANTANDER, claiming that they needed to verify activity on my account and that a follow-up message would be sent from 07862 124693, which I believe to be a scam.

I was called on 3/6/24, asking about 2 Santander payments, and was asked to reply with y or n, I think it's a con, Andy from Aberdeen

A message from Santander claimed that my card had been used for several transactions, including at 'BETFRED' and 'DRESS TO IMPRESS', but it seemed like a scam, especally since they asked me to reply with a PIN, which i found suspisous

Apparently, the phone number 08082800767 has been utilised in a scam text message, allegedly originating from Santander, which claimed that a couple of transactions had been declined, and I was instructed to respond with Y or N, or alternatively, contact the provided number; however, I had recieved a similiar message previosly and verified with Santander that it was indeed a scam, so I advise against replying to the text or contacting the number.

There's a strong likelihood this could be a scam.

Upon receiving a text about a stopped transaction, I was instructed to respond with 'N' if it wasn't my transaction and then enter a 3-digit code; after responding, the phone rang, claiming I was in a queue, prompting me to hang up and verify the number on this website.

I had placed a food delivery order for a friend, and then I recieved a text from Santander, asking me to confirm a payment, but when I called the number, they asked me to confirm my year of birth using the keypad, which seemed suspicious, so I ended the call and did some checking, and it turns out it was a scam

A suspicious text from +447862135244 claimed to be about Santander fraud, instructing me to call 08082800767 with a 3-digit PIN, but the call resulted in a continuous loop with no answer, and upon checking my bank, there were no issues with my payments
