The number belongs to BT’s Text‑to‑Speech relay service that converts incoming SMS to an audio message for landlines. Because the service reads the originating number, scammers sometimes hijack it to deliver fake parcel or billing alerts, which explains the frequent “scam” labels. The calls are generally harmless if the message is simply listened to and no keypad input is entered. To avoid annoyance, add the number to a block list, disable BT’s text‑to‑speech feature with your provider, or send a test text to confirm legitimacy. Listen before you act, and never share personal data over the line.

On 18 September 2023, I recieved a call from an Indian man claiming to be from BT, which we dont use, so I ended the call, it was unusual, but I'm glad I checked here and confirmed my desicion.

An audio text message arrived at my landline from BT informing me that my bill was ready. Oddly enough, it was indeed ready, and I had received an email confirming it. I refrained from pressing any numbers as I was uncertain. I simply allowed the message to play out, and the information was conveyed after the computer voice instructed me to press buttons.
I was contacted by this unidentified number at the inconsiderate hours of 10:30 pm and 7:10 am on a Sunday, which I find extremely thoughtless.
Although it's a legitimate BT number, it's likely exploited by fraudsters who left a voicemail about a bill and provided a web link, which I wisely avoided.
Unbelievably, those injecting nonsense need to cease immediately! Let me emphasize once more—this particular DIGIT is completely secure!

BT doesn’t leave messages about bill readiness. Likely a spoofed number for a scam. Ignored the message, deleted it, and reported here.
Today, I received a call from this number and realized that a scammer could easily fake not just the number ID but also the audio. For safety, I ended the call immediately. Never press keypad numbers, as it could lead to significant charges if it's a scam.

I recieved a call at 11am, but it was terminated before I could answer, if it was a legitimate call, I would have expected a voicemail or a callback, which is quite strange.
