Scammers often use phone calls, robocalls, or text messages to steal money or personal information, which is a significant concern.
NAB telemarketing calls: What to watch for!

Expert Opinion
Guard your data by confirming the caller’s identity before sharing anything. When a number claims to be from NAB or a Coles credit‑card product, ask for a callback number and independently verify it on the official bank website. Never disclose full account numbers, passwords, or OTP codes over unsolicited calls, and watch for vague security checks that don’t match your records. Use your phone’s built‑in spam‑filter or a reputable third‑party app to flag the number, and consider adding it to a block list if the calls persist. Report repeated unwanted marketing to the ACCC and keep a log of call details for future reference.

As a Coles Mastercard holder, I frequently receive calls from this number, despite having it blocked. The calls appear to originate from an Asian call center, making it difficult to understand the caller.
Despite repeated calls from this number, the caller fails to leave a message or identify themselves, prompting me to ignore their calls. If it's indeed Coles MC or NAB, they already have my contact information, so a call seems unnecessary.
Following a call from this number, it appears to be a genuine marketing call from Coles Mastercard, offering a 0% cash forward offer on remaining credit card balance, they seem to have acess to all my account details
Automated voice said thanks for returning the call, stating it was from Coles regarding my account, not urgent though, and then they ended the call.
The call was answered, but there was no response from the other end, so the call was ended.
Asian chick says shes from Coles - accent was super hard to understand, 4th time this week, i cut her off
Nate Caller: poor speaker Could not understand 80% of what this guy said. I was able to make out it was Mastercard (aparently) but his accent was so bad I told him to just write or email. He rambled on so I asked if he would folow my instuctions and he said somethink like wobba wobba and hung up
Simone Caller: Coles financial services Cold call from Coles credit card service centre offering me an "opportunity". Take cash from card & pay back over 6 or 12 months at low interest rate
Coles credit card service centre called, offering an "opportunity", to take cash from the card and pay back over 6 or 12 months at low interest rate.
Brad Caller: Coles Financial Services (Coles mastercard) I've been geting calls from this same number for years since having the Coles mastercard. I got a call today and it's been a little while since they last tried to call me (back on Dec 13 2023). So I'm hoping they dont start trying to call again over the next few days. Very easy to block the number but, seriousley Coles please just give up on this form of marketing it just infuriates your customers. I dont care about what ever offer you have going I just want a free credit card to use which i have been and collect my flybuy points
Lena Caller: Michele If this is a scam, theyre realy good because she had all the details from my account and sent me a SMS from the same number ColesFS sends the legit ones. It seems to be only a telemarketing thing trying to sell you a loan using the credit card balence. Doesnt seem to be a scam
Although it appears to be a telemarketing attempt to sell a loan using my credit card balance, the caller had access to my account details and sent a SMS from the same number used by ColesFS for legitimate messages, which suggests it may not be a scam.
Alex These people are a nusance and still going strong in 2024
This number continues to be a nuisance, still active in 2024.
Lyn Recieved the call from this number, but no one was talking and then they just hung up
The call from this number was received, but it was met with silence before being hung up.
Keep gettin calld by this numba 02 9296 5698 - Patricia M.
Camilla Caller: "Coles MasterCard" (so they said) I think it's about time Coles/NAB came on here and said wether it's truly them or not initiating the calls from this number AND if it is Coles/NAB, whoever at Coles/NAB authorised this needs to undergo counselling as to why this is a bad idear to make cold-calls like this in this age of scams. These calls waste the time of the call receiver and the poor call-centre worker who must wonder why so many people hang up on them. If I want a new product, I'll come looking for it. Make sure your website has all the details up-to-date and the offer is attractive enought. I wont take your unsolicited calls while I'm in the middle of doing something else
Toby I agree it's genuine. I had a number of large bills at once late last year and payed them off by the end of January. I was more than happy with the process. It's the first and last time I expect to take up the offer.
I agree that this is a genuine call. I had a positive experience with their service last year when I had to pay off large bills, and I'm satisfied with the process.
Aiden Caller: I dont no. but wish they would just stop.. just stop calling me
Sav I have a Coles Mastercard and since NAB have taken over, they have been constantly calling me. My card is not over due or over limit, but they insistently call me. I have answered a couple of times and they have tryed to force me into changing to an NAB credit card. Other times, the call is silent for a while and then hangup, otherwise they leave a voicemail which consists of me hearing for a minute and a half of somone talking to somone else. I don't bother answering anymore. I know my card is up to date, there is no reason for them to be calling me, so I dont answer
Coles credit card people - legit i think
Ellie Caller: I don’t no I do not pick up if I don’t no the number I am going to report this to NAB surely they are not such poor leaders that they expect this to be ok. This is more like the way Citibank harass customers
The calls persist, but when I answer, there's only silence, and the connection seems to be relayed or forwarded, prompting me to block the number.
Ron I ansered but no one was on the other side. Is this a legit caller pretending to be a scammer?
I answered, but there was no one on the other end; I'm unsure if this is a legitimate caller or a scammer.
Ken Now I no it's NAB on behalf of Coles MC I realise it's not a scam. Funny how they call me 5 minutes after making a payment on the card
Oliver Caller: Claiming to be from Coles credit card I normaly don't pick up any phone calls from anybody I don't no. If the call is important they will leave a message, otherwise it is a noise call. However, this morning I picked it up cause I wanted to blast at them. The girl on the other line claims she is from Coles credit card and wanting to solicit some offers. The background was busy, I could hear lots of call center people are making calls, but the line was not clear, breaking a lot of time. I have watched some documentary videos where scammers located in Kalkuta was masking their calls to appear as if from Australia, they use Christian names and they are out there to get you. I am very cautious and always on alert. The girl continue to said this, can you see the phone number, it is from Sydney, I said yes, but how do I no it is from Sydney? You could be in Kalkuta trying to scam me. I can't see you and all I can see is hearing your voice claiming you are from Coles credit card and you are from Sydney. Immediately after this, she just thanked me and hung up. Good riddance!
