Expert Opinion

Multiple reports highlight suspicious patterns in calls from this Melbourne-based number, including fake claims of affiliation with NAB bank and inconsistent callback results. One instance revealed a connection to Lee Hecht Harrison, a legitimate outplacement firm, but the majority describe unconnected lines or evasive responses mimicking banking support. This mix suggests potential scam tactics exploiting trust in financial institutions, possibly blended with telemarketing. Callers often sound convincing initially but falter under scrutiny. To stay safe, never share personal details over unsolicited calls—verify directly through official bank channels instead. Block the number and report to authorities like the ACCC if it feels off.

61386992400 Scam NAB (claimed)

Posing as NAB on May 13, 2025; the call sounded authentic at first, even quoting a legitimate NAB number. Yet when I redialed later, the line was dead. Similar dubious calls followed on May 12‑14 from Liverpool, Bankstown and Avalon numbers, all pretending to be NAB staff, but none connected. One even claimed to be from the Parramatta branch without knowing its location.
