A person claiming to be a financial advisor from Scotia contacted me with a casual demeanor, referencing a pre-approved offer that seemed potentially fraudulent
Scotiabank call warning – is it legit or a scam?
Summary — +14167506018
Expert Opinion
Yesterday afternoon, a call from +14167506018 popped up on my phone. The number is widely reported as linked to Scotiabank outreach, often claiming a compromised Visa or debit card. Callers typically request the three‑digit security code or personal details, then promise to freeze the account or issue a replacement. While some users confirm legitimate fraud alerts, the pattern of vague scripts, unverified callback numbers, and lack of official voicemail strongly resembles a scam. Protect yourself by hanging up, independently calling the bank using the number on the back of your card, and never sharing PINs or CVV codes over the phone. Report suspicious calls to your institution and to the appropriate consumer‑protection agency.

Redialling this number led to a voice message from ScotiaBank, stating they had previously attempted to call, and a subsequent call to the bank confirmed its legitimacy
Although no call was received from them, an early morning conversation with the fraud team suggested this individual continues to engage in fraudulent activities, targeting hardworking individuals, so vigilance is advised
It's pointless for Patric or Mindy to respond to such outdated posts from 2009
...
This is clearly a case of deception.

Found this number on my answering machine and it said my BNS card was compromized - turns out there was a weird debit on my account, so I'm glad they called.
No need to freak out - it's just ScotiaBank calling to confirm some stuff. They always call me from this number when I open a new account or make changes to my account.
Guys, relax - this isn't a scam. They're just calling to protect you if your card's been compromized.
Just got a call from 416-750-6018 on Sept 23/2009 - no idear how they got my home number since I don't even have an account with Scotia.
Yeah, the number 1-800-472-6842 is actualy on the back of my bank card - weird.
Actualy, it seems like the call is legit...
Ugh, I hate Scotiabank - they've been calling my house nonstop for over a year and I've tryed everything to get them to stop. I'm even on the do-not-call list, but they just don't care.
This is basicaly just someone trying to scam you by lying about your personal info - probably some telemarketer trying to make a quick buck.
BEWARE: this number is trouble.
