Scotiabank call warning – is it legit or a scam?
Summary — +14167506018
Expert Opinion
Yesterday afternoon, a call from +14167506018 popped up on my phone. The number is widely reported as linked to Scotiabank outreach, often claiming a compromised Visa or debit card. Callers typically request the three‑digit security code or personal details, then promise to freeze the account or issue a replacement. While some users confirm legitimate fraud alerts, the pattern of vague scripts, unverified callback numbers, and lack of official voicemail strongly resembles a scam. Protect yourself by hanging up, independently calling the bank using the number on the back of your card, and never sharing PINs or CVV codes over the phone. Report suspicious calls to your institution and to the appropriate consumer‑protection agency.
