Utility Disconnection Scam Calls: What to Watch For
Summary — +18008988905
Expert Opinion
If you get a call from 1‑800‑898‑8905 warning you about an imminent power cut, it’s almost always a scam. The callers pretend to be local electric utilities like SDG&E, X‑Cell Energy, or Seattle City Light, using a spoofed number to sound official. Never give out personal or payment info, and don’t press any digits that could connect you to a live rep. Hang up, verify the threat directly with your utility’s real customer‑service line, and consider filing a report with the FTC or your state consumer protection office. Staying skeptical and confirming through official channels is the best defense.
