This call was a clear scam, as the number did not belong to the bank they claimed to represent, and the card they mentioned had been deactivated over a year ago.

Expert Opinion
You’d be shocked to learn that a single number can masquerade as dozens of banks in a single day, flooding phones with fraud alerts that feel official. Most recipients treat these calls as legitimate because the script mentions holds, case numbers, and 24‑hour availability. The safest move is to never share personal or banking details over the phone and to verify any claim by calling the institution using a number from a statement or official website. Enable call‑blocking or spam‑filtering services, and consider registering your number with the national Do‑Not‑Call registry. Staying skeptical and double‑checking can stop the scam before it steals your data.

There is suspicious activity linked to this number.
A call claimed to be from my bank, warning about a fraudulent charge. I selected the option that I didn’t make the charge, then a live agent asked for my name, account number, and more. I gave my name but told them the questioning was excessive for a bank that should already have my info and hung up. I suspect they used a real charge to lure me, stole my card number, and tried to collect personal data. Fortunately, I had already called the bank and hot‑carded the card. I now always verify any such calls by contacting my bank directly and confirming any email sender with the actual company.
