After receiving a red screen alert, she followed the instructions to call a number, although she didn't keep the number; as she's elderly, I spent several hours on the phone with her, guiding her through the events to report to Microsoft and advising her to file a police report, and we discovered that the scammers had her install Teamviewer on both her PC and cellphone.
