BT Text‑to‑Speech Calls: Scam or Simple Service?
Summary — +448456021111
Expert Opinion
Around dusk, dozens of callers reported hearing the same automated voice from +448456021111. The number belongs to BT’s Text‑to‑Speech relay service that converts incoming SMS to an audio message for landlines. Because the service reads the originating number, scammers sometimes hijack it to deliver fake parcel or billing alerts, which explains the frequent “scam” labels. The calls are generally harmless if the message is simply listened to and no keypad input is entered. To avoid annoyance, add the number to a block list, disable BT’s text‑to‑speech feature with your provider, or send a test text to confirm legitimacy. Listen before you act, and never share personal data over the line.

The issue with this number is not complex, and some individuals have overreacted; it is essential to be cautious and not provide personal details, as this may be a scam, and it is advisable not to comment on certain phone sites as they may be monitored and censor positive or sensible comments

Somebody send me sms to landline is stupid
The number belongs to BT Openreach, used by various phone providers to convey audio translations of text messages sent to your landline. If you don’t adjust your settings, expect calls from this number between 7am and 10pm until you answer or until the message is deleted after 24 hours. The automated message will instruct you to press 1 to retrieve the message after stating the originating number. Avoid pressing any buttons; just wait for the message to be read out. You can test the system by sending a text to your landline, as that’s how these calls should sound if legitimate. Keep in mind that the BT system has limitations and struggles with answerphones, text language, emojis, links, and complex numbers.
I meant to give this a 1 rating, as it's safe, just dont press any buttons, just hang up. This text audio translation servise wont filter out scam texts, but it will tell you the origionating number.
Received spam SMS from what claims to be British Telecommunication, but it's clearly fake. Full of dodgy links I didn't click. Report this rubbish.
