BT Text‑to‑Speech Calls: Scam or Simple Service?
Summary — +448456021111
Expert Opinion
Around dusk, dozens of callers reported hearing the same automated voice from +448456021111. The number belongs to BT’s Text‑to‑Speech relay service that converts incoming SMS to an audio message for landlines. Because the service reads the originating number, scammers sometimes hijack it to deliver fake parcel or billing alerts, which explains the frequent “scam” labels. The calls are generally harmless if the message is simply listened to and no keypad input is entered. To avoid annoyance, add the number to a block list, disable BT’s text‑to‑speech feature with your provider, or send a test text to confirm legitimacy. Listen before you act, and never share personal data over the line.

Received a call from this number claiming to be the BT message service, instructing me to press 1 to listen to a message. I hung up, but 10 minutes later, I got another call. After pressing 1, the message mentioned Tesco and then started rambling off a bunch of numbers. I suspect it's some sort of scam.

Warning from user to be cautious
It's puzzling how individuals can label a caller as a scam without first understanding the purpose of the call! This number tends to ring repeatedly within a 24-hour span as it tries to deliver an audio interpretation of a message sent to your landline. After this period, the message gets erased from the system. Simply answering the phone and listening can't result in a scam. There’s ample information available that outlines the next steps if you prefer not to engage.
I recieved a call from this number, claiming to be a royal mail delivery message, but I didnt press any buttons, I wonder why they called my mobile when it looks like a landline service.
Repeated mentions of a substantial delivery have been made in calls from this number, but the validity of such claims is dubious.

BT's text to landline audio service is quite frustrating. It keeps ringing until answered and disconnects when the answerphone kicks in. Answered after ignoring multiple calls. Suspicious as it asked to press 1, which often leads to premium rate scams. Realised a relative accidentally sent a text to my landline. Hoping this number isn't spoofed by scammers.
These unwanted calls have resumed, so it's best to disregard them.
The caller's identity is not known
